Description

This course will cover the basics of the Unix-like computer with a primary focus on open source Linux distributions. The operating systems will be investigated in regards to their features and usability as a small business desktop or as various network servers. Topics covered will include shell commands, file management, basic applications, utilities, user interfaces, networking, process control, user management, installation of software, and security. Network servers for user authentication, file management, web, database, and email will be implemented in a lab environment. Prerequisites: Sophomore, junior or senior standing. Offered: Spring
