Description

This course examines the history of Europe from the late 14th to the early 17th century. Focus will be on cultural, intellectual, and religious history, including the Rennaissance in arts and literature, the Protestant and Catholic Reformation, and philosopical and scientific innovations. The course will also consider the political and social contexts of these developments, including the developing national monarchial state, the impact of printing, changes in trade and manufacturing, and the beginning of European overseas empires.
