Bio

Hello! I currently live and work in Montgomery, Alabama. I am a clinical psychologist with the Central Alabama VA Hospital, and I work in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (since 2013). In addition to my clinical work, I am the LGBT+ Veteran Care Coordinator, which essentially means that I help to ensure that the Veteran LGBT+ population has equitable healthcare at our facility. I am also a National Consultant for a specific psychotherapy called Interpersonal Therapy for Depression (IPT-D). In this role, I teach other VA providers (nationally) how to use the treatment, and I follow them for 6 months while they then practice using it. I am also trained/certified in the following Evidenced Based Practices: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression (CBT-D) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT; trauma-focused treatment). I completed a Post Doctoral Master's Degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology, which allows me to prescribed medications (as a Psychologist; called a Medical Psychologist) in certain states that allow it (only allowed in a few states at this time, such as New Mexico and Louisiana, to name a couple). In addition to providing psychotherapy, I enjoy completing health-related assessments, such as transplant assessments, spinal cord stimulator evaluations, and gender-confirmation evaluations (all are pre-surgical assessments, but gender-confirmation is also pre-hormone therapy).

I am married, and my wife and I have two cats and two dogs (both beagles). We love all things sports. She is an Auburn fan (and graduate), and I am a die-hard Saints fan. We have a fun SEC rivalry because I was born and raised in Louisiana, so I am an LSU fan (football season gets very interesting in our home). We also love traveling and finding restaurants along the way that have been featured on Food Network or are owned by our favorite Food Network chefs.

I have never been to North Dakota! I am excited to learn more about the culture, as culture (Cajun and Southern) have been huge aspects of my life. I also love the field of psychology (my wife is also a psychologist), and I am excited to share that passion with you.
