Description

This course is an examination of the complex information landscape in which we live and learn, as well as an exploration of the skills and habits of mind necessary to navigate that landscape. The course introduces students to methods for finding, evaluating, and using information in an academic setting, a well as to ethical questions related to the production and dissemination of information. Through group research on a topic we sleect as a class, students will practice search strategies and techniques in library and freely available search tools, critically evaluate and analyze different types of information, and practice the ethical use of information. Offered: Fall, spring.
