Description

This course will introduce students to natural cycles and unnatural processes, flows, and feedback loops. This course explores patterns and processes in the natural world and their modifcation by human activity. We will consider physical, biological and chemical processes. This course explores current environmental issues by examining scientific pricniples and the application of those principles to natural systems. This course will survey some of the many environmental science topics at an introductory level, ultimately considering the sustainability of human activities on the planet. Topics include Evolution, species interactions, biological communities, Human populations, Biomes, Biodiversity, Environmental Conservation, Food and Agriculture, Environmental Health and Toxicology, Climate, Pollution, Water resources and pollution, Environmental Geology, Energy, Solid and Hazardous waste, Economics and Urbanization, Environmental Policy and Sustainability.
