Description

The history and civilization of the various peoples and cultures of the Ancient Near East from prehistoric to Hellenistic times. This will include groups in Egypt, Syria, Palestine, Anatolia, and Mesopotamia. Special attention will be given to how practices, beliefs, and ideas that originated in the Ancient Near East influenced and shaped Jewish and Christian thought as well as Western civilization.
